In this video, I briefly discuss the (bio)technology that is language. I also discuss semiotics and apply it to the current Lipscomb University controversy related to potentially racist decorations/symbols used during a gathering for African American students. The key question under consideration is how a particular symbol or set of symbols can be read as both racist and not racist. |
